ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) – Monday night loved ones gathered to honor the memories of a brother and sister who died two weeks apart in Hardin County.

One by one friends of Brice and Brianna Taylor unwrapped hundreds of candles to be used for the vigil.

"People have asked me are there going to be enough candles and I said, 'I have no idea,'" said Stephanie Jones, who was friends with Brice Taylor.

The same friends unwrapping the candles were the ones who had been there for Brice Taylor on June 22 when a vigil was held for his sister Brianna, after she was killed in a crash.

"Standing there you never think anything worse can happen to a family. Eight days later he's in a hospital bed," Jones said.

On June 30 Brice Taylor was riding his ATV on the way home from a memorial for her when he hit a deer. Saturday, he died from his injuries.

Monday’s vigil was impromptu, but some friends of the Taylor’s flew in to join as loved ones blew up balloons, filled them with messages of love and released them into the sky.

Those who were there took solace among each other.

"He was like a brother to me. For sure. The brother I never had. He definitely filled that spot for me," said Kaylee Wright.

Haley Anderson spoke of Brianna Taylor saying, "She was always there to comfort you, take care of you and she always gave you a compliment or had that big bright smile on her face."

They shared memories of their friends as the sibling’s favorite song “Over the Rainbow” played.

Moments after the song played the sky lit up as the crowd looked up in awe. To some it was a sign from their friends.

"Brice and Brianna. I know that they are looking after us. And it's a sign that this is going to be ok," said another friend of the Taylor's.

Brice and Brianna Taylor’s parents were able to attend the vigil and watched from the top of a hill.

They said Brice’s funeral will be held on Wednesday.
