UNION TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

Police closed a park in Clermont County after dozens of people began wandering through the woods looking for a roaming black bear reported nearby.

A cruiser blocked the entrance to Clepper Park in Union Township Tuesday afternoon. Police said they had never seen so many people in the park -- including holidays.

The black bear has been spotted in recent weeks in various Cincinnati neighborhoods, including Miami Township, Montgomery, Madeira and Oakley.

The bear, 2, weighs about 85 pounds.

He has quite the following on social media too. Several photoshopped pictures and Twitter handles have evolved from the event, including @MiamiTwpBear, @TheRoamingBear and @ClermontCtyBear.

Just when it seemed like the bear could be "laying low" from media attention, he was reported Tuesday morning by A&P Technology employees in Eastgate, just off Old State Route 74.

Another FOX19 NOW viewer sent a photo saying she spotted the bear near Arlington Road in Eastgate.

Kathy Garza-Behr, an Ohio Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman, said the bear is "out looking for a girlfriend" and he won't find it in Ohio. The state has a limited bear population and he'll have more luck in Kentucky, West Virginia or Pennsylvania to find a mate.

State wildlife officials have said the bear is not a threat to humans and will leave people alone as long as they don't bother it.

Still, police caution the public to not go looking for it.
