Shots fired at downtown vigil for shooting victim

Three people were shot Tuesday night just over 24 hours after a man was killed at the same downtown intersection.

Shots were fired from a vehicle around 9 p.m. at Vine and Garfield Place. The bullets went into a group of people holding a vigil for Joshua Lamar Taylor, the man fatally shot Monday night.

Chief of Police Jeffrey Blackwell said he is confident the shootings are related.

All three victims have non-life threatening injuries, according to police. Two of the victims were reportedly uncooperative with authorities.

Chief Blackwell indicated violence is very uncommon in the downtown Business District, but said loitering has been a recent issue in the area.

No suspect information has been released.

Piatt Park is blocked off while authorities investigate.
