Magistrate upholds ruling to close Sharonville abortion clinic
SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19) -
A Hamilton County magistrate issued a ruling to uphold the Ohio Health Department's decision to close a Sharonville abortion clinic.
Court of Common Pleas Magistrate Michael Bachman formally filed his June 30 decision Thursday to close the Lebanon Road Surgery Center for failure to meet Ohio medical standards.
Thursday's ruling by Bachman would officially close the abortion clinic by 4 p.m., the end of the business day. However, attorney's for the clinic planned to go before Judge Jerome Metz Jr. Thursday afternoon to make a final ruling.
The Ohio Department of Health ordered the closure in 2012 after agency Director Theodore Wymyslo revoked the facility's license, questioning whether the clinic had followed rules to provide back-up care.
