COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - The Hamilton County Public Health Department is urging residents to avoid a creek flowing through Colerain Township due to a broken sewer line.
The creek flows behind a condominium complex in the 6900 block of Colerain Avenue and runs approximately 3,000 feet to Banning Road.
Public health sanitarians inspected the sewer line break Thursday afternoon. Officials said the sewer line is currently being repaired but say to use caution to prevent becoming contaminated.
"Contact with untreated sewage poses a significant health risk," said Assistant Health Commissioner Greg Kesterman. "Hamilton County Public Health works daily to prevent disease and protect people from such environmental hazards."
