CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The Miles Davis biopic being shot in Cincinnati has reached its funding goal just as the first week of filming wraps ups.
Directed by Academy Award Winner Don Cheadle, 'Miles Ahead' has raised $343,496 on crowd funding site IndieGoGo as of this writing. That's $18,496 more than the original goal.
"He [Miles Davis] was really about the people and doing things in a social mode and it makes perfect sense to use the social mediums and Indigo-go and Twitter and Facebook and all those things to try and rally support for the project," Cheadle told FOX19 in June.
'Miles Ahead' began filming Monday in downtown Cincinnati. Cheadle, who also stars in the film as Davis, was spotted wearing a long-haired wig alongside his co-star Ewan McGregor.

The film is set in the late 70s in New York City. Cheadle told FOX19 that Cincinnati's architecture mixed with good business made it an attractive film destination.
"With what's happening with the incentives here, Los Angeles is actually lagging behind you guys and it's becoming a film friendly town which is great," said Cheadle.
Filming reportedly goes through mid-august.
