(WPLG/CNN/RNN) - LeBron James is returning to where it all began.
The two-time NBA Finals champion and four-time MVP announced "I'm coming home" Friday and rejoining the Cleveland Cavaliers in an exclusive to Sports Illustrated.
The news came almost four years to the day he made his first "Decision" to leave the Cavs and join the Miami Heat. James is originally from Akron, OH, which made the news in 2010 all the more painful for Cleveland fans.
James landed at Miami International Airport shortly after midnight Friday as he returned from his basketball camp in Las Vegas. He was on his way to Brazil, where he will be attending the World Cup Final.
James was joined on the flight by former teammate Dwyane Wade. The other two members of the Heat's "Big Three," Wade and Chris Bosh, also opted out of their contracts after the 2013-2014 season and are listening to offers from other teams.
In Cleveland, James will find a young but talented roster featuring three other No. 1 overall NBA Draft picks - Kyrie Irving (2011), Anthony Bennett (2013) and Andrew Wiggins (2014). He was selected first in the 2003 Draft directly out of high school.
The perennial All-Star joined the Heat in 2010, announcing it in a dramatic and highly criticized hour-long special, entitled The Decision. He led the team to four straight NBA Finals, winning two.
