Authorities said a Burlington, Ky. man was arrested Friday after he allegedly sold stolen lawn equipment to fund a drug habit.
Damian Ewing, 25, was charged with theft by unlawful taking of over $500, theft of identification and giving an officer false information. He was also booked on warrants for a probation violation and flagrant non-support.
Beginning June 27, authorities said several lawn items were stolen, including mowers, weed eaters, blowers and a power washer. Most of the crimes happened on Friday, officials said.
Ewing was stopped by a detective Friday who found two out-of-county warrants had been issued for his arrest. Authorities said based on information obtained in a subsequent interview, Ewing was charged with two of the nine thefts recently reported.
According to the Boone County Sheriff's Office, Ewing told investigators he sold the equipment to support a heroin habit.
Ewing is being held at the Boone County Jail. The sheriff's office anticipates additional charges once lab submissions are returned.
