SOUTH LEBANON, OH (FOX19) -

Two Warren County Officers who shot and killed a South Lebanon man in April will not face charges, officials announced on Monday.

County Prosecutor David Fornshell says the two officers in the tactical response unit acted appropriately on April 21 when they fatally shot 56-year-old Gary Cook.

Officers responded to Cook's home to serve a domestic violence protection order upon which Cook, who was armed and wearing a bullet-proof vest, engaged the officers in a standoff. The officers fatally shot Cook during the two-hour incident.

An investigation revealed Cook had drugs and alcohol in his system during the standoff.

Based on statements from witnesses and the investigation report, Prosecutor Fornshell said the use of deadly force by the officers was warranted.
