WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A driver has been charged and arrested for a Whitewater Township crash that killed a 29-year-old woman.
Authorities say 27-year-old Scott D. Williams crashed his Pontiac sedan into a utility pole June 15 while driving on Cilley Road. Williams then allegedly abandoned the wrecked car with 29-year-old Jena Higgins still inside. Higgins was found dead in the passenger's seat 24 hours later.
Jena Higgins was a mother to four boys, all between the ages of 3 and 10.
"I'm never going to have her to talk to, or have me to talk to again. My grand kids aren't going to have their mom to talk to," Julie Ramage, Higgins' mother, told FOX19. Higgins' four children are now in her care.
Police say Williams fled the scene of the accident and then reported his car stolen, also telling authorities he was the victim of an assault. Williams then went to a local hospital, and that's where, police say, a blood sample told a much bigger story.
Test results showed Williams had alcohol and cocaine in his system when he went to the hospital just hours after the crash.
Williams was taken into custody Thursday on a charge of aggravated vehicular homicide and leaving the scene, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. He was arrested at a Miami Township residence where officials say they found him hiding in the attic.
Williams is currently at the Hamilton County Justice Center where he is awaiting arraignment.
