NORTH BALTIMORE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Fire investigators are working to find out what caused a massive fire at a North Baltimore business.

HPJ Industries on West Broadway Street, just off of State Route 18, caught fire Thursday night, leaving a big pile of rubble.

Theresa Rhinehart and her husband Jon live at the church right next door to the factory. Theresa was home at the time of the fire, and says as soon as she realized it was on fire, she got her daughters and left the area.

She says once her kids were safe at her mother's house, she started heading back toward the fire, and had several people tell her that her house and church were also engulfed in flames.

Around 2:30 a.m., Theresa was able to get closer and see that both were still standing. There is some damage, but it could have been much worse.

"We looked on the inside a little bit, and it even looks like some of the drywall might have buckled at the seams from the heat," said Jon Rhinehart.

Some of their siding was also melted from the blaze.

Right now the cause of the fire is still unknown, but the North Baltimore Police Chief says witnesses are key to figuring out exactly what happened.

"We had several credible witnesses report that just before the fire started, they observed a marine or boat type flare travel across the sky from the east to the west and then float down into the exact area the fire was started," said Chief Allan Baer.

The cause is still under investigation.
