Restaurant collecting donations for Westwood day care after thieves steal field trip money

(FOX19) -

The community is coming together to help a Westwood day care center after thieves broke in and stole field trip money.

Willie's Sports Cafe in Western Hills announced that they will be accepting donations for the day care center all day Saturday.

According to restaurant employees, Willie's will make a donation of $400 to the daycare center and will collect donations if other people wish to give money.

On top of that, if guests mention the day care center during their visit, the restaurant will donate 10 percent of the check (minus alcohol costs) to St. James Day Care.

The thieves broke in early Friday morning and were in the building for about an hour. They were caught on camera stealing a television, five tablets, a laptop and a Nintendo Wii. They also stole $400 in cash that was meant to pay for a trip to Coney Island.

A GoFundMe account has also been set up to raise money for the day care center. Donations on that account have already surpassed the $575 goal.
