JACKSON TWP, OH (FOX19) - A Sardina man was seriously hurt in a crash Sunday night after his van went off the right side of the road and overturned, authorities said.

Joseph Porter, 40, was driving westbound just after 10 p.m. on State Route 131 just west of Bucktown Road in Jackson Township.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP) preliminary investigation indicated Porter's van went off the road and struck a ditch. The vehicle then hit a culvert and a driveway and overturned. Authorities said his van came to a rest upright in a yard.

Alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash, OSP said.

Porter was flown to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious injuries. He was the only person in the vehicle.

The accident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol Batavia Post.
