BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) - An 8-year-old girl received more than 200 stitches after being mauled Sunday by a dog in Clermont County.
The girl was at a friend's house in Batavia's Greenbriar Mobile Home Park when a pit bull and boxer mix attacked her, according to Clermont County Police.
Officials say the victim was sitting on the floor watching TV when the canine walked over to her with no warning and bit her on the face near her lower lip area.
The canine's owner, Dennis Grant, was able to restrain the canine before anything else could happen, according to police.
A medical helicopter transported the girl to Cincinnati Children's Hospital where she received stitches on her face. She has since been released.
"When it tears up a kids face or kills kids, that's when you got to put the straw down. It's sad that she is going to have to go through life like this. It's not fair," Steven Knauber, the victim's father, told FOX19.
The dog is currently quarantined at the Clermont County Animal Shelter where authorities say it is required to stay for 10 days. After the 10-day period the owner can choose to put the dog down or keep it with multiple restrictions.
