1 1/2 cups of Boiling Water
1/2 cup of Sugar
1/2 cup of Lemon
3 sticks of Cinnamon
3 whole cloves
1 large bottle of Burgundy
You want to boil the water. Add Sugar, the lemon and cinnamon and cloves. Stir the water until the Sugar Dissolves. Add Wine simmer for at 20 minutes. Do not let it boil at this point. Then you want to strain it. Serve Warm
Being German this has been a big part of our holidays.
What we do in our house during the holiday parties is fix a batch the day of a party after staining it I stick it in a big pot and leave it on our stove so people smell it as they walk in. For a big party sometimes I make a couple batches and pour the strained wine into bigger crock-pot leaving it on warm so people can enjoy it the entire party.
