City to unveil streetcar substation design

Streetcar substation

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Have you wondered what's happening at Court and Walnut streets? It's a streetcar substation.

Tonight the city of Cincinnati will hold a public forum where residents can get their questions answered about the substation and see the design. The public meeting is set for Tuesday, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Cincinnati Main Public Library on the first floor.

On top of that, Main Street will be closed at night between 5th and 6th streets for part of this weekend for water main work.

Main Street between 5th and 6th streets will be closed for part of this weekend starting Friday, August 1 at 7:00 p.m. through Saturday, August 2 at 7:00 p.m. so crews can prepare the area for a water main tie-in.

Duke Energy, meanwhile, will begin manhole work at 6th and Main Streets this week too.

The work will focus on two electric manholes at the intersection of 6th and Main streets. Officials say it will  take approximately four weeks to complete. These two manholes will have lane restrictions on Main Street and 6th Street. Two through lanes will be maintained on each street with lane shifts.
