Reds offense continues to sputter in 15 inning loss

(FOX19) -

The Reds only scored one run in a 15 inning loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1 on Monday night.

Nick Ahmed's 15th inning RBI single off J.J. Hoover gave the Reds their ninth loss in 10 games since the end of the All Star break. The streak has dropped the Reds below .500 for the first time since late June.

The Reds' offense has been the issue, scoring just 17 runs in those 10 games.

Devin Mesoraco hit a second inning solo home run for the Reds only run of the game. That ended a streak of three straight games without a home run at Great American Ball Park – the longest in the history of GABP.

Homer Bailey started the game for the Reds on the mound and only allowed one earned run in eight innings pitched.

The first place Brewers lost Monday night, so the Reds remain six games out of first place in the NL Central.
