Western & Southern Open announces events and promotions for 2014 tournament

The Western & Southern Open tennis tournament has announced its schedule of events and promotions for the 2014 tournament. 

The Western & Southern Open will be held August 9-17, 2014 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. The top 43 players on the ATP World Tour and top 39 ranked players from the WTA have committed to play in this year's tournament. The player field will include Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, Victoria Azarenka, Li Na, Maria Sharapova, current No. 1 Serena Williams and more.

Schedule of Events and Promotions

Saturday, Aug. 9

  • Graeter's Kids Day, featuring on-court tennis drills and autograph sessions, 9 a.m. to noon, along with a access to the Day Session matches. Tickets for youth are $5 and adult tickets are $10.
Sunday, Aug. 10

  • Ignition High School Day, with a tennis exhibition, lunch and ticket to Day Session matches, 9-10:30 a.m. (Tickets are $30 per person with group discounts available).
  • Paul Flory Statue Dedication & Ceremony, 4:30 p.m. at the Main North Gate; a bronze statue dedicated to Paul Flory, the long-time tournament director, who passed away in 2013, will be unveiled.
  • Greater Cincinnati Tennis Hall of Fame induction ceremony, 5 p.m. (Tickets for Dinner and Evening Session are $62 per person).
  • Kroger Family Day, half off tickets with Ticketmaster.com (keyword: Kroger).

Monday, Aug. 11

  • Military and Uniformed Personnel Appreciation Day (any military member or civic personnel showing a valid ID at the door receives a half-price ticket.) This year, the Western & Southern Open is partnering with TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) for the Day Session and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) for the Evening Session tribute.

Wednesday, Aug. 13

  • Night on the Runway presented by Cincy Chic fashion show, 5:30-7 p.m. Tickets $30 per person (must have a valid day or evening match ticket).

Thursday, Aug. 14

  • United States Tennis Association Member Appreciation Day (USTA members are invited to enjoy the afternoon at the hospitality tent and receive discounted tickets for both day and Evening Sessions).

Saturday, Aug. 16

  • Wheelchair Tennis Round Robin, event featuring four high-profile wheelchair players.

Sunday, Aug. 17

  • Championship Sunday: Women's Singles Championships, 2 p.m. and Men's Singles Championships, 4 p.m.

Live Music Lineup on the Dayton International Airport Stage 

Live entertainment is scheduled each day during the tournament on the Dayton International Airport Stage located in the Food Court. Entertainment is free and included with a Day or Evening Session ticket.

Local Celebrity Chefs Join Increased Food Options in the Food Court area

The chefs will provide live cooking demonstrations in the Robert Mondavi Private Selection Wine Garden each night between Sessions. During their demonstrations, they'll be offering tips on how to prepare each item and will offer samples to those attending.

The chefs join the expanding lineup of culinary choices being offered throughout the tournament at the food court, which offers a range of choices for any palate.

New Security/Bag Policy

Guests will not be able to bring backpacks into the Lindner Family Tennis Center, and all bags are subject to search. Tote bags and cinch bags are OK.
