KUSHAN CITY, CHINA (CNN) - At least 65 people are dead and nearly 200 injured in an explosion at a metals factory in eastern China.

The blast happened Saturday just outside Shanghai, in the eastern province of Jiangsu.

The explosion tore huge holes into the exterior walls of the building, collapsed ceilings and reportedly sent large pieces of equipment flying.

The public security ministry says an initial investigation suggests the blast was caused by flames igniting combustible dust.

Combustible dust is considered an industrial hazard.

China's official news agency Xinhua says five of the company's executives have been detained for questioning.
