DEER PARK, OH (FOX19) - A single vehicle crash on Sunday ended in a fiery explosion on a Deer Park residential street.
The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. when a Chrysler side-swiped two parked vehicles on Hegner Avenue.
Authorities say the force of the collision ruptured a fuel system in one of the cars, causing an explosion and fire that damaged all three vehicles.
Lt. McCormick with Deer Park Police says the driver and passengers fled after the crash. Authorities later caught up with the front-seat passenger, Christian Ramirez, 24, who initially denied involvement in the accident.
Police say Ramirez, who was the listed owner of the Chrysler, had bruises and injuries consistent with a person who had been in a crash.
He was arrested for obstructing official justice for refusing to provide police with names of the driver and passengers who fled after the crash.
Ramirez also told police he was in the country illegally, according to Lt. McCormick. An Immigration and Customs agent will reportedly meet with Ramirez while he is in the Hamilton County Justice Center.
Alcohol was most likely a factor in the crash, police say. Authorities are searching for the driver of the Chrysler and are investigating the incident.
