EVANSTON, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell will hold a press conference Tuesday to discuss an officer-involved shooting during a traffic stop near the border of Evanston and Walnut Hills.

Authorities said a cop was making a traffic stop around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday near Victory Parkway and Gilbert Avenue when one of the three suspects in the car started arguing with an officer and confronted him.

The officer first attempted to tase the suspect, but authorities said it was ineffective.

Police said a second person in the car got out and fired shots at the officer. The officer returned fire and hit the suspect, who was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he later died.
