The first team came out with a bang in the Bengals preseason
opener with an Andy Dalton 53-yard bomb to A.J. Green, but the Chiefs came away
with a 41-39 win an offensive explosion in Kansas City.
Dalton completed three of his five passes for 71 yards, but
was unable to find the endzone in the only series he played. Green had two
receptions for 62 yards in one series. Bengals backup quarterback Jason
Campbell struggled under center going 6-for-15 with two touchdowns and two
interceptions. Dane Sanzenbacher and Brandon Tate each had a touchdown grab.
The Bengals forced their first turnover of the game when
Robert Geathers forced an Alex Smith fumble, recovered by Carlos Dunlap. Dre
Kirkpatrick had an interception returned for a touchdown in the second quarter.
Former Bearcat Travis Kelce made the biggest play of the
night with a 73-yard touchown catch for the Chiefs.
The Bengals get back to work Saturday inside Paul Brown
Stadium for family day. Their next preseason game is August 16th at
home against the Jets.
