Western & Southern Open puts national spotlight on Cincinnati

Saturday is the big day. The Western & Southern Open kicks off at Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason. 

The number one tennis players in the world, Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic will be playing in Mason. The field also includes Roger Federer, Andy Murray, John Isner, Maria Sharapova, Eugenie Bouchard, Caroline Wozniacki and more.

It's a huge deal for the Cincinnati area especially Mason.

Jackie Reau with Game Day Communications and the tennis tournament says this brings a national spotlight to the Cincinnati area. 

The event rakes in $62.5 million dollars every year.

She says it takes all year long to plan with a small but mighty staff and 1300 volunteers.

There's more than just tennis that takes place in Mason.  The Western & Southern Open offers local food, music and family fun for everyone.
