Two people are facing charges after a water rescue Sunday night in the Great Miami River.

Police say two men were traveling in a Jeep Cherokee SUV around 8 p.m. on Miami Township trails that are intended for ATVs only.

The Jeep slid off trail, located near Cilley Road, and rolled several times, coming to a rest partially submerged in the water.

One of the men was able to exit the vehicle and call 911 while the other was trapped inside, according to police.

Miami Township Fire Department reportedly had to call in Lawrenceburg crews to utilize their ATV vehicles due to the remote location and terrain.

After searching for 40 minutes, authorities say they located the men and brought them to safety. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The two men, who are from Colerain Township, are charged with criminal trespassing.
