Moment of silence for slain Missouri teen held in Columbia

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Concerned citizens and Civil Rights activists held a peaceful protest outside the State House earlier tonight to send a message about what they believe is injustice in Missouri.

Protestors participated in a National Moment of Silence in honor of Missouri teen Michael Brown.

"It could have been someone I loved. It could have been my brother, it could have been my uncle, it could have been someone I loved," said one protester. "Just as well it could have been anyone elses family out here. Just as my sign says, if it were a white man, I would be out here doing the same thing. It's not about race, it's about what's right."

Today's moment of silence event was organized nationwide through Facebook.
