Kings Island tops world record for applying lipstick

MASON, OH (FOX19) -

Kings Island set a new world record Saturday for most people applying lipstick at the same time.

The previous record in the Guinness Book of World Records was 1,384 people. It was achieved by Avon Romania on March 8 of this year.

Kings Island beat that record with 1,821 people.

The world record attempt benefits the fight against cancer as part of Kings Island's Kick Cancer campaign. This campaign raises awareness for Pink Ribbon Girls, a organization focused on providing personalized support to young women throughout their breast cancer journey.

Park guests can contribute to the Kicks Cancer campaign by buying a soccer ball for $5 and kicking it into the fountain for a chance to win a 2015 Honda Fit.

As of Thursday, the campaign had raised more than $95,000 since July 25. Proceeds benefit The Dragonfly Foundation, Melanoma Know More and Pink Ribbon Girls.

Earlier this month, the amusement park set the record for most people applying sunscreen at the same time.
