Cross Burning Lawsuit

A black family who had a cross burned on their lawn in Burlington last summer are the plaintiffs in a lawsuit filed on their behalf by the Kentucky Civil Rights Commission. A three-foot cross was burned on the front lawn and the next day juveniles wearing white hoods shouted racial slurs as they threw rocks at the family's car. Eighteen-year-old Matthew Scudder of Hebron and 19-year-old Jimmy Foster of Independence will be sentenced December 16th in federal court for their roles in the incidents.
