Welcome in the holiday season with a new tradition an old-fashioned tree lighting ceremony to be hosted at the new Anderson Towne Center on Tuesday, November 30, 2004. Join festive holiday carolers, the Anderson High School Showstoppers, along with the Anderson Hills United Methodist Church Bell Choir, the Anderson High School Brass Players, Santa, holiday elves and "Christmas Carol" theater performers, as they stroll with the crowd. Festivities with refreshments begin around the 30-foot tall Christmas tree at 5:30 p.m., with a recognition program starting at 7 p.m. The lighting of the tree and arrival of Santa begins immediately after the recognition program. Residents and community groups are invited to participate by donating a personal outdoor ornament and are invited to help decorate the tree from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The tree will be located at the turnaround at the south end of the Center's streetscape, and the ceremony will be held regardless of the weather. A child will be selected from the crowd to help illuminate the tree, symbolizing the future of the new Towne Center and the Township. After the tree is lighted, Santa will arrive on a fire engine.
