A teenager convicted of fatally shooting his 13-year-old friend appeared in court Monday for a disposition where his sentencing was delayed until next week.
The 13-year-old boy from Green Township was found guilty last month on charges of reckless homicide and possession of a firearm. The teen and the victim, Hawken Hemmerle, were playing with a stolen handgun in June when the gun accidentally fired and killed Hemmerle.
The teen was set to be sentenced to a behavioral health facility on Monday, but was delayed until Aug. 28 due to a conflict at the organization. An official at the Hamilton County Juvenile Court says the teen will likely face time at a similar facility.
