Reports: Vontaze Burfict agrees to 4 year, $20 million extension with Bengals

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

ESPN is reporting that Vontaze Burfict has agreed to a 4-year, $20 million contract extension with the Bengals.

According to ESPN's Adam Caplan and Adam Schefter, the extension will pay the linebacker $7.6 million this year.

Burfict was named a Pro Bowler during the 2013 season and topped the league in tackles with 171.

The team has done a lot of talking this year about Burfict's success as a leader.

"He gets us going," said Bengals linebacker Vincent Rey about Burfict. "He's a tough individual who really understands the game."

The Bengals also signed a 6-year contract extension with quarterback Andy Dalton earlier this year.

FOX19 is working to confirm this information independently. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
