Holiday lights extravaganza illuminates NC town
A tiny North Carolina textile town welcomes the holiday season today with its 49th annual salute to Christmas. McAdenville known as Christmas Town USA -- draws people from all over the world to see nearly every tree in town glittering with red, green and white lights. Homes are festooned with garlands and wreaths sporting big red bows are on the doors. Between now and December 26th, about 600-thousand people will visit the town. Mel Collins, of the sponsoring Pharr Yarns, says the economic impact is nearly 12 million dollars. A check of McAdenville's Web site treats visitors to the song, "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" and invites one and all to kick off the season with the tree-lighting ceremony beginning this evening at 4:30 pm, Eastern Time.
