CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The Renaissance Hotel is open for business at the historic Bartlett Building downtown, and it's just the first of many new hotels to come downtown.

The building, which is on the National Historic Register and was vacated in 2010, went through a $50 million renovation before opening it's doors to patrons.

In addition to more than 300 new hotel rooms, there is more than 14,000 of event space and a new restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The Renaissance Cincinnati will also have live music and entertainment.

Cincinnati is often criticized for quality and quantity of hotel rooms in the downtown area.

The Renaissance Cincinnati is the first of many new hotels to open downtown.

The old Enquirer Building at 617 Vine Street will be a joint Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn. It will offer 105 extended stay suites and 144 hotel rooms.

Slated for 2016, a hotel at the Banks Phase II. It is currently in the pre-development state, but is expected to be adjacent to Great American Ball Park and host 150-200 rooms.

Also in the planning phase is a Holiday Inn at the corner of Seventh and Broadway, just a quarter mile from the Horseshoe Casino.

Official opening dates on those projects have not been announced.
