More testimony in Peterson penalty phase
Defense attorneys for Scott Peterson will march out more witnesses today in an effort to spare him the death penalty. Peterson has been convicted in Redwood City, California, of murdering his pregnant wife, Laci. The jury now must decide whether to sentence him to death or life in prison without parole. Yesterday, defense lawyer Pat Harris told jurors he wanted them to see who Peterson was in "the 30 years that preceded this," so they could see that his is a "life worth saving." The defense started by calling Peterson's father and half-sister to the stand. His father testified he couldn't imagine anything worse than having his son executed.
