How speedy or slow is your state on the road? Cars.com wanted to find out.

The automotive website used information from the Governors Highway Safety Association to determine the average speed of each state.

The fastest and slowest? Texas and Alaska respectively.

According to Cars.com "The Lone Star State not only lays claim to the fastest posted limit on a single highway in the U.S. (85 mph), it also boasts the greatest overall top speed (78) when you average the highest allowable speeds on its rural interstates, urban interstates and other limited access roads..."

The high-speed portion of the Texas Highway 130, which stretches between San Antonio and Austin, became the nation's first 85-mph toll road in 2012, the article says.

Alaska and Washington D.C. on the other hand both have a top speed and an average speed of 55 mph.

As far as the Tri-State goes? Ohio's average speed is 68, Kentucky's is 67 and Indiana's is 62.
