SOUTH EUCLID, OH (WOIO) -

A routine traffic stop in South Euclid became heated after a teen driver was pulled over for speeding.

Douglas Hayslip, 18, said he was on his way home on August 22, driving on Montecello Road when he sped up to get around an unsafe car. That's when he was pulled over for going 52 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone.

Hayslip called his dad, who was following behind him, to tell him he was getting a speeding ticket.

His father pulled in front of his son's car, and got out to talk to him.

"Don't give him a hard time, just be nice, police, and respectful," Hayslip's dad said, on the dash camera.

The officer tells Hayslip's dad to get back in his car. He does, and listens to the cops conversation with his son over his cell phone.

"When I asked to see the speedometer because he said he clocked me at a faster speed than I thought I was going, and then he called me [expletive]," Hayslip said.

On the dash camera footage, you hear the officer say, "I don't gave a [expletive] get out of the car and come on little [expletive] if you want to look at it."

Hayslip's dad got back out of the car to question the officer about what he called his son.

"Even if this officer is having a bad day, he doesn't have the privilege as a police officer to throw it towards my son or anyone else," said Hayslip's father.

The South Euclid Police Department admits the officer was unprofessional and told Hayslip's father the officer would have to undergo anger management.

"And if he can't control himself, then maybe he shouldn't be a police officer," Hayslip's father said.

Hayslip will go to court for his speeding ticket in a couple of weeks. His dad plans to bring up the officers behavior to the judge.
