The Reds announced on Thursday that right handed pitcher Homer Bailey will have surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon in his right forearm.
The surgery is scheduled for Friday in Cincinnati with hopes that Bailey will be 100 percent by spring training.
Bailey hasn't thrown a pitch since August 7 when he gave up four hits over seven innings in a 4-0 win over Cleveland. Before going on the 60-day disabled list with his right forearm injury, Bailey held a 9-5 record with a 3.71 ERA through 23 starts.
The Reds look to avoid a three-game sweep in Baltimore Thursday night. Cincinnati returns home Friday for a three-game series against the Mets.
