A suspect is in custody after shooting a woman in the head in Middletown Saturday night, but this isn't the first time the 19-year-old has been arrested.

According to police, a call came in around 9 p.m. Saturday for a report of a person shot in the 700 block of Tenth Ave in Middletown.

When officers arrived, they found a woman with a gunshot wound to her head. She was flown to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight. There is no word on her condition at this time.

According to police, 19-year-old Deangelo Jones fled the scene on foot before police arrived. He returned to the scene a few hours later and turned himself in.

Officials say the gun that was used in the shooting was disposed of but they did find a stolen handgun in his house.

Jones was charged with two counts of having weapons under disability, tampering with evidence and negligent assault. He is currently being held in the Middletown city jail.

This isn't the first time Jones has been in trouble for possessing a gun.

Earlier this year, Jones was arrested for bringing a loaded 9 mm handgun to Lakota West High School where he was a senior.

The gun was found in his backpack in his friend's car in the school parking lot. He was charged with possession of deadly weapons on school premises for that offense and was put on probation. He did not serve time in jail.
