CINCINNATI (FOX19) -

The Bengals announced Wednesday that second-year Tight End Tyler Eifert will be sidelined at least the next eight weeks on the reserve/injured list. Eifert suffered an elbow injury in the Bengals 23-16 win at Baltimore Sunday.

Eifert will be eligible to return to practice in six weeks and eligible to play in eight weeks. If healthy, Eifert's earliest return to the field would be on Thursday night football at home against Cleveland on November 6. Eifert started 15 games last year and caught 39 passes for 445 yards with two touchdowns. Eifert had three receptions for 37 yards in the Bengals opener before injuring his elbow in the first quarter.

Other injury notes:

Vontaze Burfict, who suffered a concussion in Baltimore, will go through the NFL's concussion protocol this week. Burfict's status for the Bengals home opener against the Falcons may not be known until Sunday.
