University of Cincinnati Police say they are beefing up security after a string of robberies in the past week.
Officials report ten people in the past five days have been robbed near the campus, with several of the victims being students.
The university is hiring 24 more police officers and 10 security officers for campus and the in the surrounding neighborhoods, UC Interim Police Chief Jeff Corcoran announced Thursday.
Students in criminal justice classes are helping the department analyze crime data to identify crime-heavier areas around campus. New security cameras and lighting are also being installed in the area.
Cincinnati Police have increased their patrols in the neighborhoods surrounding the Uptown campus.
The most recent robbery happened Thursday night on Ohio Avenue, according to police. A victim was robbed at gunpoint and the suspect remains at large.
