EAST PRICE HILL, OH (FOX19) -

A twist on the traditional groundbreaking had Cincinnati Landmark Theater raising a curtain for the new Incline Theater in East Price Hill.

City officials and Cincinnati Landmark Productions hosted a special ceremony Tuesday morning to break ground on the new performing arts center and parking garage in East Price Hill's Incline District.

The theater will have 220 seats, and a multi-level parking garage at Matson and West 8th.

The project costs $6 million dollars. Two million dollars is covered by an economic development grant from the City of Cincinnati. The remaining funds will come from sale of new market tax credits and private fundraising.

Not all who attended applauded the new development. One long time Price Hill resident says this project and others like it in the community are gentrifying the neighborhood.

"In their effort to beautify out neighborhood they are creating an ugliness of homelessness," said Susan Babey.

Price Hill Will, a non-profit at the curtain raising, says its mission is to bring up their community, and that there is no shortage of affordable homes in the area.
