MORROW, OH (FOX19) -

The family of Brayden Thornbury, the 17-year-old Little Miami football player who died after a car crash earlier this month, submitted an open letter to the community Saturday:

Thank you for the overwhelming outpouring of love for Brayden and for our family. We are deeply appreciative of the support and comfort you have collectively extended to us over the course of the last two weeks. We will never forget all of those who "prayed for Bray."

We thank the first responders and those at Miami Valley Hospital who cared for our precious son. We are deeply appreciative of the students, parents, teachers, coaches, administrators and staff of Little Miami High School, particularly Brayden's teammates and personal friends. Your ongoing expressions of support and remembrance continually renew our hope and strength. Pastor Ron Corbin and the members of Fellowship Baptist Church have been with us throughout this trying time. Larry at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home provided Brayden with care and loving attention. We are forever grateful to them, and to all of those who participated in the truly beautiful services celebrating the life of our son Bray.

Thank you to friends, family, coworkers and others for the countless donations, flowers, meals, and the other gifts and acts of kindness that have sustained us. We take comfort in knowing that all of you will continue to treasure Brayden in your hearts.

Sincerely,
Jeanne, Ron and Daniel Thornbury
