Woman seriously injured in downtown crash involving excessive speed, impairment

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Two people are injured after a crash downtown Sunday afternoon.

The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. in the 600 block of 3rd Street.

Police say Toshawmby Myers, 37, was driving a 1997 Infiniti when he failed to maintain control of the car and struck a pole just left of the roadway. He was partially ejected from the vehicle.

Myers sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

His passenger, Melissa Rogers, 23, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Cincinnati Fire Department.  She was transported to UC Medical Center with serious injuries and is listed in serious condition, according to police.

Police say excessive speed and impairment are factors in the crash. It is unknown at this time if the two were wearing seatbelts.

The Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation and any witnesses to this traffic crash are asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Department's Traffic Unit at 513-352-214.
