WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) -

West Chester might sometimes be over-shadowed by the larger surrounding cities but TIME Magazine is recognizing the township independently as one of the best places in the nation to live.

The money section of the magazine, which alternates bi-annually between focusing on small and large cities, looked at the top small cities this year with populations between 50,000 and 300,000 people.

West Chester, the only Ohio city in the top 50, was named no. 30. 781 cities were originally considered.

The magazine cited the abundance of entertainment opportunities, large local employers and a unique downtown area as reasons for its top ranking.

West Chester stats:

  • Population: 60,859
  • Census region: Midwest
  • Median family income: $93,743
  • Median home price: $179,153
  • Average property taxes: $4,009
  • Projected job growth: 4.4%
