CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto announced on Thursday that he is closing his nonprofit foundation.
The Joey Votto Foundation was created in December 2013 to provide resources and support to Greater Cincinnati families affected by posttraumatic stress disorder.
In a letter posted to the foundation's website, Votto said it was a "strictly personal decision" that led to the closure.
"I remain committed to giving back to our Cincinnati community. However, I look forward to keeping my future volunteer and philanthropic efforts private. I appreciate your understanding on this matter," the letter read.
