The Cincinnati Reds extended General Manager Walt Jocketty's contract through 2016 on Saturday.
Jocketty joined the Reds in 2008, and with him the team has had some of its best successes since the 1970s Big Red Machine era.
In 2010, Cincinnati won the National League Central Division title and made its first postseason appearance since 1995. The Reds have made three Postseason appearances and had three seasons with 90+ wins in just the last five years.
Cincinnati Reds President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Castellini says, "This franchise has had great success under Walt's guidance, and we're delighted he has signed a 2-year extension."
Jocketty has produced ten playoff teams throughout his career. And in 2006 he won the World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals. Jocketty has also been recognized as Major League Baseball's Executive of the Year three times, with the most recent being in 2010 with the NL Champion Redlegs.
