Butler Co. officials investigate infant death

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Butler County officials are investigating after a 2-month-old child died Sunday at a Liberty Township residence.

A neighbor called 911 around 9 a.m. and reported the infant was not breathing or responding, according to a release from the Butler County Sheriff's Office. Officials say CPR was attempted with the help of dispatchers over the phone, but was unsuccessful.

Emergency crews and the coroner responded to the Mainring Street home and pronounced the child dead at the scene.

Officials say an autopsy is scheduled for Monday and the case remains under investigation in Butler County. Further details on the circumstances of the death were not made available.

"Obviously, this case will be a priority for my investigators. Child cases are the toughest for everyone involved." Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones stated in the release.
