COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A Colerain Township family made it out of their home safely Tuesday morning, even though there were no working smoke detectors.

The fire broke out around 3:45 a.m. in the 8200 block of Pippin Road. Fire crews closed down the Pippin in both directions at West Galbraith Road to battle the fire.

The three people in the home were able to make it out safely but firefighters say there were no working smoke detectors in the home.

An adult that was inside the home smelled something burning and was able to get everyone out.

The house sustained heavy smoke damage and it took about 45 minutes for firefighters to put out. The cause is still being investigated. Officials say the fire caused about $25,000 in damages.
