Game Preview: Cincinnati at New England

FOX19 - By Amy Van Syoc

In a prime-time match up Sunday at 8:30 p.m., the Bengals will get an early-season test to see just how tough this year's team really is.

Playing the Patriots in Foxborough is a daunting task for any team. New England hasn't lost at home in the regular season to an AFC opponent in 31 games. Cincinnati has even more on the line tonight, coming into the game with an undefeated 3-0 record.

While Cincinnati is well rested from a bye week, New England is heading into the game with a 2-2 record after a 41-14 loss Monday night against Kansas City.

Many people are wondering what to expect from both sides of play. Tonight's match up will be a gauge for the Bengals to see if they really are the powerhouse that analysts are calling them. It will also serve as a test for the Patriots to see just how lackluster they are this season, or whether last week's performance was a fluke.

Cincinnati fans should look for a trick play on the offensive side of the ball. The Bengals have pulled off something sneaky in all three games so far this season. The last two involved wide receiver Mohamad Sanu taking a turn throwing the ball down field.

On the defensive side of the ball, Cincinnati will need to keep an eye on Patriot tight end Rob Gronkowski. Linebacker Emmanuel Lamur will cover him on most snaps with help from safety George Iloka in zone coverage.

Last year, New England came to Paul Brown Stadium, where the Bengals snapped their 4-0 record.
