Cincinnati, Charlotte compete for Queen City title

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Days before the Cincinnati Bengals take on the Carolina Panthers and the competition has already started.

Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley took to Twitter earlier this week, challenging the city of Charlotte which also goes by the moniker the "Queen City".

Cranley tweeted, " Sorry, Charlotte: Where is the real "Queen City"? @Bengals will show @Panthers this Sunday in the first-ever Queen City Bowl #QCBowl."

Charlotte's mayor responded, "Hey @JohnCranley, @CharlotteNCgov is the real Queen City & by the end of the week, it will be clear. Go @Panthers, beat those @Bengals! #QCBowl"

The hashtag #QCBowl is now trending on the social media site with residents from both cities weighing in. You can vote online here for Cincinnati!

The Bengals take on the Panthers at Paul Brown Stadium this Sunday at 1 p.m.

As of Wednesday morning tickets were still available and according to Ticketmaster's website, start at $45 a piece.
