LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - 19-year-old Austin Myers was given the death penalty by Warren County Judge Donald Oda Thursday morning.

Myers was found guilty of multiple charges including the aggravated murder and kidnapping of Justin Back in January of this year.

He is the youngest inmate sentenced to death in Ohio.

A jury recommended death for Austin on Oct. 6 after he was found guilty of killing an 18-year-old U.S. Navy recruit in March.

Prosecutors urged a death sentence in the slaying of Justin Back, pointing to evidence that Myers spent a day and a half planning the crime, overcoming setbacks and altering the scheme several times.

"It's bittersweet. It's justice for Justin, but it's never going to bring Justin back. Justin went out in a very bad way, so we're happy with it, but again we're sad at the same time because this could have been prevented," said Sandra Cates, Justin's mother, after the sentencing.

Back was stabbed 20 times during a burglary, and his body was dumped several counties away
